Riverdale Wellness and Physical Education Syllabus
Expectations:
● Be prepared for class every day.
● Be an active participant daily in activities, which includes dressing out.
● Be prepared to give effort in daily activities.
● Be respectful in class i.e. listen when people are talking, be courteous during activities.
Requirements for Class:
● Students are required to dress out each day. Athletic wear (shorts, t-shirt, sweatpants, leggings) that is in dress code will be permitted.
● Tennis shoes or athletic shoes are REQUIRED. Slides, boots, slip-ons, open shoes, etc. will not be permitted on the gym floor and cannot be worn to participate in class.
● Uniforms can be purchased in Spear Gear. Payment will need to be paid at the spirit store in the school. Check or cash.
· $5 for shirt
· $7 for shorts
· Free for students with free/reduced lunch
Procedures:
● Be on time and in your roll call spot when the tardy bell rings.
● Cell phones and any electronic device will be placed in the teacher’s designated spot for the duration of class during attendance.
● Once attendance is taken, you will be dismissed to get dressed in the appropriate locker room.You will then have 8 minutes to get dressed/use restroom/prepare yourself for the class.
● Return to your roll call spot to begin stretches and agilities as soon as you are ready – no loitering in the locker rooms.
● Lesson/Activity for the day
● Then you will be dismissed back to the appropriate locker room to change clothes/use restroom/prepare yourself for the next class.
● Stay in the gym until the bell. DO NOT LINE UP IN FRONT OF DOORS & DO NOT GO IN THE HALLWAY!!
Grading
· 100 points/5 class periods
· Point Reduction of Daily Grades
Possible points (daily) 20
Not dressed out -6
Not participating -10
No shoes Alternate written assignment from book or email (worth 60% of daily grade - 12 maximum points)

Injuries
Any student who is injured or unable to participate in physical education class will need to bring in a doctor’s note excusing from activity that specifies their restrictions from class. The student will be given an alternate assignment that can be submitted for full credit in this scenario only.
