Expectations
Grades
Students are required to maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA to remain in good standing with the honors college. Should the GPA drop below 3.0 at the semester review, the student will be placed on probation for the following semester. If the student recovers their GPA, probation will be lifted. Should the GPA remain below 3.0, the student will be removed from the honors college.
Attendance Requirements
All Riverdale Honors College students must maintain a good attendance record.
Students can have no more than ten unexcused absences during a single school year. Students with more than ten (10) unexcused absences will be placed on probation for one semester. If the attendance record improves, probation will be removed. If the student has over five unexcused absences while on probation, they will be removed from the Honors College. Any case where there are extenuating circumstances that might impact this decision must be addressed with the Academic Dean and/or RHC administration.
Discipline Policy
Riverdale Honors College members are expected to follow school rules and set a good example for other students. Students who violate school policy and are subject to disciplinary action may be removed from RHC.
- Two (2) violations that result in ISS within one year (365 days) will result in one semester of probation. Further violations will result in the student's removal from the Honors College.
- One violation that results in out-of-school suspension will result in a one-year probation. Further violations will result in the student's removal from the Honors College. RHS administration and the RHC Council reserve the right to automatically remove a student from the RHC in certain circumstances.
- Any violation that results in expulsion from Riverdale will result in the student being removed from RHC.
If a student believes their probation or removal from the RHC is not warranted based on extenuating circumstances, they may appeal the decision to the RHC Academic Dean for review by the Council and school administration.
Please note that the RHC Council and school administration are always willing to assist our students in these matters. Should the student feel that this assistance would be beneficial, they can email their assistant principal, guidance counselor, or Mrs. Boyd, the academic dean.
