Welcome to the Riverdale Vocal Department! Students can choose General Music, Music Theory (when available) or one of our Choirs to earn their Fine Arts Credit.
General Music - open to any student with a general interest in music and music history. This class will explore the evolution of music through a Music History unit, Introduction to Musical Theatre, Song Lyrics (a lyric writing unit in conjunction with The Country Music Hall of Fame), and a unit on the Basics of Rhythm.
Music Theory - for the ADVANCED music student (grades 10-12) who wants to dig into the mechanics behind the music. Strongly encouraged for upperclassmen planning to study music in college. When the class is not available there are still many resources and links on the class web page to YouTube, where students can dig as deep as they desire into the mechanics of music.
The Women's Chorale and Men's Ensemble just require a love and desire to sing, while the more Advanced Ladies Ensemble and Riverdale Singers requires an audition with high performance expectations.
