My name is Dalton York and I will be your child’s Physics or Physical Science teacher this year. I would like to introduce myself:
This is my sixth year teaching, other than physics and geology labs while in college ( I taught other college students ). I was born and raised in middle TN, and am glad to call it home again. I am a graduate of Mount Juliet HS, 1995; after this, I attended TTU for a B.S. in chemical engineering ( 2001 ). I then attended graduate programs, also in chemical engineering, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign ( M.S., 2004 ) and Yale University ( Ph.D., 2008 ). After all this, I spent a few years conducting academic research ( beginning at TTU, and ending in France ). Please browse my school website more to view my resume or learn more about my classroom. Please email me at email@example.com.
I have two children ( Owen, 12 and Courtney, 10 ) of my own as well as much of my immediate/extended family living in the area.
I am excited about teaching your child. I feel very strongly about encouraging youngsters to undertake the study of any science ( or engineering ). That means I will work with your child on skills such as communication ( written and verbal ) and working with others. I will do my best to also incorporate some basic skills that are essential as they approach college and/or adulthood. I have spent years conducting hands-on laboratory work, and thus will bring a strong focus to safety while in the midst of classroom lab exercises. I also understand that not everyone is destined to pursue science/engineering ( and am fine with that ) but will still expect your child to develop a basic understanding of the subject.
To this end, they must show me full respect and attention—they will receive the same from me in return.
I look forward to working with you this year on your child’s education.
J. Dalton York, Ph.D.
