Riverdale CTE Celebrates Multiple College and Career Ready Distinctions
Riverdale High School’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department is celebrating an outstanding year of achievement after earning multiple College and Career Ready Awards, including recognition for having the MOST INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS in Rutherford County.
The awards were presented during a county-wide CTE department meeting last week. Determined through verified district accountability data, the College and Career Ready Awards recognize measurable excellence in expanding student access to college - and career - ready opportunities. They honor teachers, programs, and schools leading the district in helping students earn industry certifications and reflect a shared commitment to preparing students for success in the workforce.
Riverdale students earned an impressive 2,599 Industry Certifications, demonstrating the department’s dedication to providing students with real-world skills and credentials.
When asked about the changes made last year to lead to these distinctions, CTE Department Chair, Dr. Briana Humphrey shared that “This success followed a more intentional approach to industry certifications during the 2025 – 2026 school year. We focused on identifying students ready for certification, providing targeted preparation and review opportunities, increasing collaboration among teachers, and helping students understand the value of industry-recognized credentials.”
“I could not be more proud and grateful for our Riverdale High School CTE teachers and students for this incredible accomplishment!” said CTE Administrator, Dr. Lindy King. “Being recognized for having the most industry certifications in the county is a tremendous reflection of the dedication, expertise, and commitment our CTE team pours into our students every day.”
Special recognition was also given to Criminal Justice teacher Sarah Medley, who earned the distinction of being named the Career Ready Teacher of Excellence for the district. . Veterinary Science teacher Ashley Shaw also received honors for LEADING HER PROGRAM in industry certifications.
To keep this momentum going, Riverdale CTE plans to continue monitoring certification data, identifying students who need additional support, and providing targeted preparation. Teachers will continue collaborating, sharing effective strategies, celebrating successes, and holding themselves accountable for student outcomes.
“Riverdale CTE is raising the bar, and I am honored to celebrate them!” Dr. King said.
We are all so proud of you, RHS CTE Department! Congratulations!
