Read: "A World of Heroes" on pages 6-7.  Add words to the Word Network on page 7 as you read.

Write an objective summary of "A World of Heroes" in the space provided on page 8.  Here's a video if you don't remember how to do this Khan Academy Objective Summaries
 
Fill in the Launch Activity Statement with three traits that you would use to describe a hero.

Respond to the Prompt (top of page 9) and complete the Quick Write assignment.  In answering this, consider the character traits that you would apply to a "hero."    You are making an argument - make sure you have a central idea and evidence to support your claim.
 
Turn this assignment in along with the Summary from page 8.
 
Begin reading Historical Perspectives on pages 10-14.  This information will be on a test.

Complete Historical Perspectives reading/discussions.  Answer the following questions on a sheet of notebook paper or in the margins of your book:
 
How did the Roman invasions of Britain shape the nation that we know today?
 
Why does the English language contain so many words from other cultures?
 
What effect does written history have on a culture?
 
How did the rise of a merchant class foreshadow the end of feudalism?
