Course Description:

Personal Finance is a course designed to inform students how individual choices directly influence occupational goals and future earning potential.  Real world topics covered will include income, money management, spending and credit, as well as saving and investing.  This course will provide a foundational understanding for making informed personal financial decisions.

Learning Expectations:

Students will:

  • Analyze factors affecting income throughout the life span
  • Evaluate practices for successful money management
  • Analyze the risks, costs, and benefits of financial management decisions
  • Investigate opportunities available for saving and investing
  • Understand the consequences of financial decision making

 

Examples of Class Activities:

  • Design Budgets
  • Simulate use of savings and checking accounts
  • Demonstrate knowledge of finance, debt, and credit management
  • Evaluate and understand taxes and insurance

 

Materials needed:

  • Paper
  • Pens or Pencils
  • Other material may be required throughout the course based on projects to be completed
