My name is Aimee Minter, MSN, RN, and I’m honored to serve as one of the school nurses at Riverdale High School. I am a Nashville native, and I have called Murfreesboro home since 2008. I became a registered nurse in 2012. I have since worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including the Emergency Room, ICU, PACU, Home Health, and School Health.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University in 2012 and completed my Master of Science in Nursing Management and Leadership from Western Governors University in 2024.

I joined Rutherford County Schools in 2021 as a float nurse, providing care and support to students of all ages and grade levels throughout the district. I’m now proud to be permanently based at Riverdale High School, where I can focus on building strong connections with students, families, and staff

I look forward to working closely with you and your child to help manage chronic conditions, encourage healthy habits, and promote overall wellness amongst our students.

In accordance with the “Families' Rights and Responsibilities Act”, Public Chapter No. 1061, in order for a student to receive health care services by a school nurse or other persons acting on behalf of the school system a parent or guardian must provide written consent.

Parents must give written permission to see the school nurse or other persons acting on behalf of the school system for basic health services including assessment and treatment of illness (headache, abdominal pain, vomiting, fever, etc.), injury, and/or non-emergent care.

The form is now available in your Skyward account as part of annual school registration packet

- If you do NOT consent for your child to receive basic health care services, you will need to ensure that you are able to arrive at the school within 30 minutes of notification from the school for assessment and treatment of any illnesses or injuries of your child. If not, EMS may be called.

This includes temperature checks, band aides, ice pack, etc. (basic services)

Medication Questions

ALL medicines must be provided by AND SIGNED INTO THE SCHOOL by a parent/guardian. NEVER SEND MEDICINE OF ANY TYPE TO SCHOOL BY YOUR STUDENT. We do not keep stock medications.

All prescription medication must be brought to school in the original pharmacy-labeled container. The pharmacy label must match the Medication Authorization Form signed by the health care provider. The Medication Authorization Form must be signed and completed by the physician before the medication can be administered at school. Please do not mix medications in the same bottle. (You may want to ask your pharmacist to give you an extra bottle with a label on it, one for home and one for school)

Prescription medications must be administered according to the pharmacy label instructions. If the parent requests a dose be administered that does not fall within the dosing guidelines of the label or the dosage is not FDA-approved for the student’s age, a health care provider’s order will be required, and a waiver shall be completed by the parent.

It is required that all nonprescription (over the counter, OTC) medications (i.e., Tylenol) be brought to school in an unopened, sealed manufacturer's original container, with the ingredients listed and the student's name affixed to the container. No Ziploc bags/baggies, unlabeled bottles, or expired medications can be accepted or administered. All unused medication will only be returned to the parent/guardian/parent’s adult designee. If medication is not picked up within two weeks of the request being made, the medication will be discarded.

Alternative Medications (herbs, herbal supplements, homeopathic medicines, vitamins, traditional or cultural treatments, salves, nutritional supplements, medical food, CBD oil, CBD foods, and other products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine) will not be administered at school. The actions and potential side effects of these products are not readily available to health care providers and cannot be safely administered by school staff.
