'Our new addition and renovations are more than just a building'

Riverdale cuts ribbon on 100,000+ square foot addition

Riverdale High School officially cut the ribbon on its 100,000+ square foot building addition!

This $56 million addition will provide the school with new classrooms, a new auditorium and a skybridge that connects the main building to the annex. This addition provides a way for all students to travel to any class without stepping foot outside the building.

The school celebrated with a ribbon cutting that involved the school’s band, cheerleaders and dance team. Afterwards, Riverdale Principal Tamera Blair welcomed the community inside the building for a special ceremony that included remarks from Board Chair Claire Maxwell, County Commissioner Allen McAdoo and RCS Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan.

"Our new addition and renovations are more than just a building,” Blair said. “They are a promise - a promise to our students that their safety and dreams are worthy of this investment. Our ribbon cutting will be not just for the building, but for a new chapter in Warrior history.”

Blair is a graduate of Riverdale High School.

Students began using the new addition at the beginning of this academic year. Ground was broken on this addition on August 23, 2023.
