Mission
The mission of Riverdale Honors College is to offer opportunities to specialize in academics with a focus on college and career success. The Honors College provides a prestigious program within the school that aids and encourages student success as they thrive academically, creatively, emotionally, and socially.
Vision
We strive to cultivate an experience of an intimate learning community through high-quality academic studies and experiences. Riverdale Honors College will aid academic attainment and intellectual curiosity, and empower students to fulfill their full potential in their personal and professional pursuits and community responsibilities.
The Riverdale Honors College maintains a selective admissions process designed to identify students who demonstrate strong academic performance, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee acceptance, as all applications are reviewed holistically by the selection committee.
To be considered for admission to the Riverdale Honors College, students must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Submit a completed application during the designated application period in May.
- Be a current freshman or sophomore student.
(Juniors and seniors are not eligible to apply unless they are new to Riverdale High School.) - Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the time of application.
- Maintain a positive attendance record.
- Successfully complete a discipline record review.
Applicants may also be considered based on additional factors that reflect their readiness to contribute positively to the academic and leadership expectations of the program.
