We will have a vocabulary quiz every week on the same day, as voted on by class.

Latin 1   Thursday        Latin 2  Thursday

Grammar quizzes will be virtually every week, so there will be plenty of opportunities for success.

In the (unlikely) event that you are not always successful the following policies are provided for your success.

Non-cumulative Vocabulary Quizzes may be corrected for 2/3 of the points lost.

Corrections may be in the form of

  • Copying the complete information for each word 3 times
  • Completion of a Vocabulary log for the entire chapter,
  • Making a set of flash cards with information equivalent to a vocab log.

All other tests and quizzes may be retaken if failed, up to 3 a grading period before a parent teacher conference is required.  Only during a conference would we discuss whether or not more retakes would be a viable option.  To retake a quiz the student must fill out a retake request, with a) a plan for how they intend to improve b) a parental signature.  Getting extra help from me or a peer tutor is an option for the plan.  After I receive the completed request and the plan has been followed the student will take another quiz, possibly in a different format, over the same material.

Late work- is always accepted for partial credit during the grading period down to 80%.  If work is late from absence no points will be deducted and work missed should be completed as quickly as possible.  Work that was DUE the day absent is due immediately upon your return, projects included.

Projects- Will generally fall under the culture section of the grade.  They are intended to demonstrate knowledge in a different format from a quiz or test.

Note book- I require you to keep certain notes and information for my class long term.  I will post the ongoing list of required items in class, and I will announce when I plan to check the notebooks ahead of time. Bell work is counted toward this grade as are derivatives and vocab composition books.  These count in the practice work percentage.  The notebook list is posted in my classroom at all times.
